Robins
Ages 4 years to 5 years (by September 1)
(Students are required to be fully potty trained.)
Robins classes are designed to prepare our students for Kindergarten. The curriculum continues to focus on positive social and emotional development, but introduces a higher level of academic challenge, providing students with the key building blocks each student needs to succeed in an elementary school classroom.
Master independence in personal hygiene (e.g. hand washing, toileting and nose wiping); independence in opening snack and cleaning up; ability to articulate needs, wants, thoughts and ideas; cooperation and willingness to try new things.

Important Skills
Here are some of the important skills we focus on:Socialization Skills
Ability to share materials, take turns, request and offer help; follow directions and work independently for short periods of time; adjusting to changes without fear; self-esteem and confidence in a classroom and playground setting.
Self-Help Skills
Master independence in personal hygiene (e.g. hand washing, toileting and nose wiping); independence in opening snack and cleaning up; ability to articulate needs, wants, thoughts and ideas; cooperation and willingness to try new things.Gross Motor Skills
Balance on one foot; hop on one foot; jump with both feet; walk a straight line; balance; bounce and catch large ball; jump over objects; play simple organized games.Fine Motor Skills
Ability to cut along a straight line with scissors; hold a crayon and/or pencil properly; copy a circle, square, rectangle and triangle; button a button, zip a zipper and draw a simple figure.Academics
Understands colors and shapes, directional and positional concepts, connection between spoken and written language; conceptualizes that print carries a message (preliminary reading skills); introduction to problem solving; development of verbal reasoning skills; beginning phonics; creative thinking through stories; pre-math skills such as one-to-one correspondence, measuring, sorting, patterning; terminology; counting by rote to 10; extensive practice with letter formation and writing name (other words); developing creativity through self directed art projects; continued exposure to literature, science and health concepts.Location / Time
