We understand that securing childcare this fall will be a challenge for many families in our community. Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District is committed to be part of the solution. As MDUSD finalizes the details of their plan to start the school year with 100% distance learning, Rec & Park staff is working simultaneously to develop youth program options to support as many District families as we possibly can with quality childcare, distance learning support and enrichment opportunities.
While there are many unknowns about schedules and logistics at this time, what we do know is that our fall program participation will be limited to small, stable cohort groups based upon Contra Costa Health Services public health orders and Center of Disease Control guidelines. These smaller groups are an important safety measure to mitigate virus transmission. Kidstop Cares Academy will take place at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center and Teen Cares Academy will take place at the Teen Center. Currently, our summer CARES programs successfully operate in small groups and have very conservative safety protocols per CCHS and CDC guidance. Our participants and staff have demonstrated amazing cooperation and adaptability under these new limitations. We look forward to building on this success into the school year.
To help us better understand the childcare needs in the community and to collect contact information from interested families, please complete the following form to join our “Cares Family” list. We will use this list to notify families about Rec & Park program details and registration dates as information becomes available.
We thank you for your patience and ongoing support as our staff pivots to meet this moment in an unprecedented start of a new school year.
