Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District is taking a careful and thoughtful approach to opening up our facilities and adjusting programs as the novel coronavirus continues to linger and impact our way of life. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our program participants and our staff.

Please take a few minutes to review the following District-specific information related to vaccination requirements, facility openings, face coverings, and other current COVID-19 protocols at this time:

Due to the omicron variant surge, in-person events, senior activities, events, and programs held at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center have been suspended until it is safe to continue. Our Costa Cafe is closed for in-person dining but frozen meal packs are available to-go for pick up on Fridays. Pre-orders required by calling (925) 925-771-7641. Pleasant Hill Senior Center is closed to the public except for registered class participants. For more details, click here 

Effective September 22, 2021, all participants 12 years and older must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination per Contra Costa Health Services health order in the following indoor programs

    •    Café Costa at Pleasant Hill Senior Center
    •    All indoor exercise classes
    •    All indoor dance classes
    •    All indoor sports ( i.e. basketball, volleyball, badminton)
    •    Rentals that serve food or drink

Participants can show proof of vaccination by showing a photo ID and one of the following items:

  • Your CDC vaccination record card or a copy or photo of your card
  • Your digital vaccine record issued by the State of California
  • Documentation from your healthcare provider stating you’re fully vaccinated

People who are not vaccinated must show a negative COVID-19 test result received in the past three days. The results must be from a nucleic acid (PCR) or antigen test that detects a COVID-19 infection. These tests are available through your healthcare provider, county-run sites, and state-run sites. A letter from your healthcare provider stating the result of your COVID-19 test and the date the test was performed can also be used as proof. Results from at-home COVID-19 tests are not acceptable documentation and cannot be used for this purpose. To find the nearest vaccination site, visit:

Everyone*, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear a mask/face covering at all times when inside any District building facility. The mask/face covering must properly cover the mouth and nose. 

* Mask exceptions:

  • Youth do not need to wear a mask outdoors (e.g. park playgrounds)
  • Following individuals are exempt from wearing masks at all times:

Persons younger than 2 years old 

Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition or disability that prevents wearing a mask. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a mask could obstruct breathing. 

Persons who are hearing impaired or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication

  • All employees, volunteers, and instructors working inside are required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
  • All employees, volunteers, and contract instructors must provide proof of vaccination.
