Safari West / Wildlife Preserve & St. Helena

Adventures in the wild! Stop in quaint St. Helena for a bite to eat, then drive to Safari West for an informative 3-hour guided walking and jeep tour through an 800 acre wildlife preserve, seeing lemurs, camels, porcupine, colorful exotic birds, gazelles, giraffe, cheetahs, Watusi cattle, wildebeest, zebra and more. Bring a camera for this memorable experience. Visitor’s Center offers books, African crafts and souvenirs. (Note:  rugged terrain; not recommended for pregnant women.)

Derby Day

(All ages are welcome!)
Test your engineering skills and design a boat out of cardboard, recyclables, and duct tape. All boats will compete in races across the pool. Wear your swimsuit and prepare to get wet! Preregistration is required for all boats by July 15. For rules or more information, call 682-0896.

Kayaking at Elkhorn Slough, Moss Landing

Explore the second largest estuary in California. It is a unique habitat for sea otters, harbor seals and shorebirds. Wetsuit, paddling jacket, and life jacket provided. Bring bathing suit, extra top (synthetic, not cotton), shoes that can get wet, water, snack bar and sunscreen!

“School House Rock!” Live At the School House (all ages)

S.T.A.G.E. (Several Teens Acting Goofy Everywhere) Summer Repertory presents this pop culture phenomenon based on a 1970s Saturday morning cartoon that taught history, grammar, math and science! All the favorite bits are here, wrapped into the story of a young teacher terrified of facing her first class and looking for a way to really bring learning to life. Castello di Amorosa Winery & Calistoga

Stop at V.Sattui Vineyards on the way to Calistoga, where you will tour the Sharpsteen History Museum, explore the shops, and lunch. Then a guided tour and wine tasting at the new Castello di Amorosa (Castle of Love), which is a magnificent replica of an Italian fortress. Visit the wine museum and marketplace at the Culinary Institute on the return trip.
