American Legion Post #331

Post #331 meets the second Thursday of every month at the Winslow Ctr., 2590 Pleasant Hill Rd., at the corner of Taylor Blvd. Membership is open to all eligible veterans. The doors open at 5:30 pm; dinner at 6:30 pm, and the meeting begins at 7:30 pm. Prospective members and their guests are welcome to attend. For information, call Terry R. Contra Costa Camera Club

Anyone interested in photography may attend our club meetings on the first and third Thursdays of the month, 7:15–10 pm, at the P.H. Community Center. Beginner or expert, you will learn through competitions, critiques, fieldtrips, and workshops while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow hobbyists. Diablo Valley Track & Field Club

A USATF youth track club, open to boys and girls, 9–14 yrs, regardless of ability. The club provides a trained coaching staff dedicated to teaching skills; developing endurance and fitness; and emphasizing good sportsmanship. Athletes train at Pleasant Hill Middle School, Mar–July, Mon–Th, 4:30–6 pm, and some compete in local as well as Regional meets. Club dues: $200 for the season (March–May for most members.) East Bay Artists Guild

East Bay Artists Guild is a group of enthusiastic artists of all levels who embrace a wide variety of two and three-dimensional art. Our mission is to create, foster, and sustain an appreciation of art within the community; to provide a venue for the display of art by member and guest artists; and to sponsor educational programs and exhibitions to increase the knowledge and skill of our members and the general public, to the end that a better community may result.

EBAG is a forum for exchanging ideas and learning new skills–a resource for artistic growth, and hopes to make the joy of art an integral part of business, city, and local community. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month, 7–8:30 pm, in Rooms 1 and 2 at the Winslow Center, 2590 Pleasant Hill Road. Friends Abroad - Pleasant Hill's Sister City Organization

Friends of P.H. Library

Support our library! Volunteer in our year-round endeavors, especially our quarterly book sale. Membership cards available at the Central Library, 1750 Oak Park Blvd. Donations of useful fiction, non-fiction books, tapes, videos, and CDs are always welcome. Drop off is at the library.

Friends of Rodgers Ranch

Rodgers Ranch is a PHR&PD property located at 315 Cortsen Road, off Grayson Rd. Organized in 1991, Friends of Rodgers Ranch (FORR) is focused on restoring the 2.1 acre historic park and providing heritage programs for our community. The farmhouse and barn, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, date back to the 1860s. Volunteers are needed to help raise funds or act as docents for our school programs and Summer Round-ups. Funds have been donated to restore the Memorial Orchard and help is needed for weeding and site clean up.

Afghan: Purchase an historic Pleasant Hill 100% woven cotton, fringed afghan for $55.

The Guild of Quitlers of C.C. County

The Guild of Quilters meets at 7 pm on the third Monday of each month, except holidays, at the Community Center to promote fabric arts and the appreciation of quilting. Las Juntas Artists

An artists' organization open to anyone who has an interest in art. Meetings are held at 7:30 pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the McHale Room at the Pleasant Hill Community Center (third Wednesday in November and December.) Members display their art work in a monthly Artist's Participation; compete for prizes in annual, sponsored art shows; and showcase their art in Rotating Exhibits.

P.H. Baseball Association

PHBA, an all-volunteer organization, offers community baseball and softball for approximately 1,700 youth, 6 to 16 yrs, playing on 120 teams. Boys Pony Baseball and Girls ASA Softball Season runs March–June. In-House Leagues and Traveling Teams. Fees (per family): $130/one player; $120/2nd child; $80/each add’l child. PH DOG Owners Group

ATTENTION SMALL DOG OWNERS! Visit Paso Nogal Park to see the NEW Small Dog Area for dogs under 25 pounds. PHDog collects and annual fee of $30 for improvements to the off-leash area and to provide Mutt Mitts for cleanup. Membership brochures are available in the P.H. Dog mailbox at the park. Paso Nogal Off Leash Dog Park Information: The Off-Leash Dog Park will be closed for approximately eight weeks due to severe turf damage. The park will be closed March 17 and will re-open May 9. P.H. Fourth of July Volunteers

The all-volunteer Fourth of July Commission raises funds, organizes, and presents a day of activities on July 4 beginning with the Firecracker 5k Fun Run, a downtown parade, and then Pleasant Hill Park comes to life with games for the kids, entertainment, and food. The evening ends with a display of fireworks over College Park High School. Volunteers/contributions are always welcome. P.H. Garden Study Club

Join us at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of each month (except July & December) at the P.H. Community Center, 320 Civic Dr. Guests are welcome. Speakers on a wide variety of garden-related topics, plant & prduce exchange; garden tours; propagation workshops; garden discussions; monthly newsletter, the Flower Press; annual plant sale May 10. P.H./Martinez Soccer Association

PHMSA is the local division or "Region" of AYSO (American Youth Soccer Association). PHMSA provides over 2500 children, aged 4–18, the opportunity to play soccer. PHMSA promotes a fair, fun, and safe environment based on AYSO's core philosophies: Everyone Plays; Balanced Teams; Open Registration; Positive Coaching and Good Sportsmanship.. Registration for the Fall Season takes place in March. Parent participation is necessary and strongly encouraged so that PHMSA can maintain its status as one of the most-admired youth sports programs in Northern California. Society of Young Magicians
